ISS transits during the Venus transit

Very pretty! Wow, that's some photograph! (Or series of photos, I should say.) Talk about a once-in-a-lifetime photo! Patty |

My brother was suitably scornful about things you've never seen before and you'll never see again (an old joke about nuts came up), but it's still possible that this will _never_ happen again. It's too early to make predictions for 2012, though. |

ISS transits during the Venus transit
Did anyone catch ISS crossing the Sun during the Venus transit? There's
nothing on http://iss-transit.sourceforge.net/IssVenusTransit.html I think your message was a day or less before the transit of a transit photo became known, so now it's on the sourceforge page. There was a lot of discussion about this on the SeeSat-L list in May and June, before the fact: http://www.satobs.org/seesat/May-2004/index.html http://www.satobs.org/seesat/Jun-2004/index.html Look for ISS and/or Venus and/or transit. I guess that everyone else who was going to try had bad weather or other bad luck. They did a lot of work to perfect the predictions, and it was a remarkable achievement. I accidentally saw ISS transit the Moon one night (well, except that it disappeared while it was in front of the too-bright Moon), but they really worked hard to get that image.
