At least my apartment stays fairly cool. I think it's because the apartments above me and on both sides of me have good air conditioning! Double-A Just got email from Afgan. This girl wants me to receive 34.5 million in 100 dollar bills so it can end up in USA. She will give me 40% of this. AA is this a scam? I think so. Still for that kind of money I think I might play along. How say you. TheBert Of course it is a scam! I used to get emails like that almost every day, usually from Nigeria. Ignore it, or they will screw you! A sunny day here in Gresham, but kind of smokey! Now 88F as of 2 PM. 97F expected later. Wind 3 mph out of the west. The fall east wind is forecast to begin by tomorrow evening. That will bring smoke from from a fire up the gorge near Cascade Locks into our area, plus perhaps smoke from the Boardman coal fired power plant. They are evacuating Cascade Locks! That is the area where I used to fish. Double-A |

Nothing but smoke in the air here! You can see it. You can smell it. And little bits of white ash are falling like little snowflakes! The forest fire situation has gone from bad to worse real fast. Columbia gorge 35 mph east winds have fanned the fire, increasing its size by 30% overnight! Fire is burning around Multnomah Falls now, and firemen are trying to protect the lodge. The highway I84 is now closed east of Troutdale. And residents of Troutdale have received the first level of warning in case evacuation is required! The warning is to all living east of 257th and north of Stark St. Wait a minute, 257th is Kane Drive, and I live right on it! Fortunately I am on the west side of the street, but that is close And I am only a mile south of Stark! If I have to evacuate, I really have nowhere to go. I guess I would have to return to (living on) the Streets of Tanasbourne, along with Kim. At least the weather is warm having to stay outside all night. Last night it stayed 90F until past midnight.
Currently at 1:15 PM here in Gresham it is 87F. Wind is southwest at 4 mph.. Humidity 38%. Everything is timber dry as we have not had any real rain in months. I can even smell the smoke here in the library. People with lung problems are in big trouble. I am hearing some older people coughing here. I saw one guy searing some kind of gas mask. That is what is really needed. If I have to evacuate to the west side of town, I will have to see if my Washington County library account still works. Double-A |

And I guess I would have to return to (living on) the Streets of Tanasbourne, along with Kim. Why is Kim not living with you? I offered her the opportunity to stay at my apartment, but she has not accepted the invitation. She did make it to Gresham for lunch yesterday though.. I guess the falling white ash from the forest fire has made it all the way over to the west of Portland where she hangs out. Smoke was still heavy in the air yesterday. Today it is not quite so bad, but it is still mostly obscuring the Sun. They have evacuated Corbett, which is the next community to the east of Gresham! The Mt. Hood Community College near me is being used as a shelter. Fire seems to have calmed a bit with the winds subsiding. The kids in Corbett must be missing school. Today it's cooler. Now 74F here in Gresham at 12:30 PM. Wind west at 4 mph. Humidity 54%. Slightest chance of rain. Double-A |
