Einstein's Light Postulate: the Root of All the Evil in Physics
"Lee [Smolin] and I discussed these paradoxes at great length for many months, starting in January 2001. We would meet in cafés in South Kensington or Holland Park to mull over the problem. THE ROOT OF ALL THE EVIL WAS CLEARLY SPECIAL RELATIVITY. All these paradoxes resulted from well known effects such as length contraction, time dilation, or E=mc^2, all basic predictions of special relativity. And all denied the possibility of establishing a well-defined border, common to all observers, capable of containing new quantum gravitational effects." Joao Magueijo, Faster Than the Speed of Light, p. 250 http://www.amazon.com/Faster-Than-Sp.../dp/0738205257
"In physics, spacetime is any mathematical model that fuses three-dimensional space and the one dimension of time into a single 4‑dimensional continuum. [...] Until the turn of the 20th century, the assumption had been that the three-dimensional geometry of the universe (its description in terms of locations, shapes, distances, and directions) was distinct from time (the measurement of when events occur within the universe). However, Albert Einstein's 1905 special theory of relativity postulated that the speed of light through empty space has one definite value - a constant - that is independent of the motion of the light source." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spacetime The so-called theoreticians wrestle with Einstein's idiotic spacetime, cry in despair, reject it, but continue to worship the underlying premise, Einstein's false constant-speed-of-light postulate (we all live in Einstein's schizophrenic world, don't we): https://www.edge.org/response-detail/26563 Nobel Laureate David Gross observed, "Everyone in string theory is convinced...that spacetime is doomed. But we don't know what it's replaced by." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U47kyV4TMnE Nima Arkani-Hamed (06:09): "Almost all of us believe that space-time doesn't really exist, space-time is doomed and has to be replaced by some more primitive building blocks." https://edge.org/response-detail/25477 What scientific idea is ready for retirement? Steve Giddings: "Spacetime. Physics has always been regarded as playing out on an underlying stage of space and time. Special relativity joined these into spacetime... [...] The apparent need to retire classical spacetime as a fundamental concept is profound..." https://www.scientificamerican.com/a...me-from-space/ "Splitting Time from Space - New Quantum Theory Topples Einstein's Spacetime. Buzz about a quantum gravity theory that sends space and time back to their Newtonian roots." http://www.newscientist.com/article/...spacetime.html "Rethinking Einstein: The end of space-time. It was a speech that changed the way we think of space and time. The year was 1908, and the German mathematician Hermann Minkowski had been trying to make sense of Albert Einstein's hot new idea - what we now know as special relativity - describing how things shrink as they move faster and time becomes distorted. "Henceforth space by itself and time by itself are doomed to fade into the mere shadows," Minkowski proclaimed, "and only a union of the two will preserve an independent reality." And so space-time - the malleable fabric whose geometry can be changed by the gravity of stars, planets and matter - was born. It is a concept that has served us well, but if physicist Petr Horava is right, it may be no more than a mirage." https://www.newscientist.com/article...wards-in-time/ "[George] Ellis is up against one of the most successful theories in physics: special relativity. It revealed that there's no such thing as objective simultaneity. [...] Rescuing an objective "now" is a daunting task." http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2013...reality-review "And by making the clock's tick relative - what happens simultaneously for one observer might seem sequential to another - Einstein's theory of special relativity not only destroyed any notion of absolute time but made time equivalent to a dimension in space: the future is already out there waiting for us; we just can't see it until we get there. This view is a logical and metaphysical dead end, says Smolin." https://www.amazon.com/Time-Reborn-C.../dp/B00AEGQPFE "Was Einstein wrong? At least in his understanding of time, Smolin argues, the great theorist of relativity was dead wrong. What is worse, by firmly enshrining his error in scientific orthodoxy, Einstein trapped his successors in insoluble dilemmas..." http://render.fineartamerica.com/ima...david-mack.jpg Pentcho Valev |

Einstein's Light Postulate: the Root of All the Evil in Physics
In Einstein's schizophrenic world the scientific method is doublethink. Theoreticians who reject Einstein's idiotic spacetime greatly admire the ripples in spacetime faked by LIGO conspirators:
What scientific idea is ready for retirement? Steve Giddings: "Spacetime. Physics has always been regarded as playing out on an underlying stage of space and time. Special relativity joined these into spacetime... [...] The apparent need to retire classical spacetime as a fundamental concept is profound..." https://edge.org/response-detail/25477 "In celebration of Einstein's birthday, physicists reflect on the German-born scientist's work and its impact on the field and on everyday life. "We have good reason to believe general relativity is not a complete theory and, in particular, that it's going to break down in the context of describing black holes," said UCSB physics professor Steve Giddings. "That's very much an important problem in physics today. "The direct observation of gravitational waves from colliding black holes really constrains the possible departures from general relativity that we know are there and limits where modifications can be made," he continued. "But the discovery is still spectacular and its announcement was one of those moments in science that you live for." http://www.news.ucsb.edu/2016/016562...ein-revolution http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4010/4...22552b04_z.jpg Pentcho Valev |

Einstein's Light Postulate: the Root of All the Evil in Physics
Joao Magueijo and Lee Smolin discovered that special relativity is "the root of all the evil" and decided to do away with Einstein's false constant-speed-of-light postulate:
"...Dr. Magueijo said. "We need to drop a postulate, perhaps the constancy of the speed of light." http://www.nytimes.com/2002/12/31/sc...-relative.html Lee Smolin, The Trouble With Physics, p. 226: "Einstein's special theory of relativity is based on two postulates: One is the relativity of motion, and the second is the constancy and universality of the speed of light. Could the first postulate be true and the other false? If that was not possible, Einstein would not have had to make two postulates. But I don't think many people realized until recently that you could have a consistent theory in which you changed only the second postulate." http://www.amazon.com/Trouble-Physic.../dp/0618551050 However a serious danger emerged - without the false postulate modern physics would just disappear: Joao Magueijo: "In sharp contrast, the constancy of the speed of light has remain sacred, and the term "heresy" is occasionally used in relation to "varying speed of light theories". The reason is clear: the constancy of c, unlike the constancy of G or e, is the pillar of special relativity and thus of modern physics. Varying c theories are expected to cause much more structural damage to physics formalism than other varying constant theories." http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/astro-ph/p.../0305457v3.pdf So Magueijo and Smolin, honest Einsteinians without any doubt, did play the maverick role during the bestselling period but are much more judicious now: "But the researchers said they spent a lot of time working on a theory that wouldn't destabilise our understanding of physics. "The whole of physics is predicated on the constancy of the speed of light," Joao Magueijo told Motherboard. "So we had to find ways to change the speed of light without wrecking the whole thing too much." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...ht-discovered/ Pentcho Valev |

Einstein's Light Postulate: the Root of All the Evil in Physics
That the speed of light is variable, not constant, is obvious. Consider the following setup:
A light source emits a series of pulses equally distanced from one another. A stationary observer (receiver) measures the speed of the pulses to be c and the frequency to be f=c/d, where d is the distance between the pulses: http://www.einstein-online.info/imag...ler_static.gif The observer starts moving with constant speed v (v c) towards the light source - the frequency he measures shifts from f=c/d to f'=(c+v)/d: http://www.einstein-online.info/imag...ector_blue.gif The following formula is correct: f' = c'/d where c' is the speed of the pulses as measured by the moving observer. And now the most difficult question in Einstein's schizophrenic world - a question Einsteinians never think of: c' = ? George Orwell: "Crimestop means the faculty of stopping short, as though by instinct, at the threshold of any dangerous thought. It includes the power of not grasping analogies, of failing to perceive logical errors, of misunderstanding the simplest arguments if they are inimical to Ingsoc, and of being bored or repelled by any train of thought which is capable of leading in a heretical direction. Crimestop, in short, means protective stupidity." Pentcho Valev |
