Default Starlight MX7C CCD camera

Does anyone know what is involved to change the parallel interface to USB on
MX7C. Factory change or dealer change?

Just buy the USB interface. It plugs in to the existing camera connector and
is essentially a parallel to USB converter. You'll need the USB camera
software version too. That is available form Starlight express or Astroart
if you use that software.

Thanks Dennis
How far away can I use the USB interface from the camera to my laptop?

This is the 'piece of string' question. :-)
Officially, USB, is designed to go 5m. However some cards, and cables, often
happily exceed this by big margins (I have heard of a couple of people,
pushing 12m, with a single device attached), however 5m is all that is
normally expected. There are USB 'repeaters', available quite cheaply, which
double this, and you can daisy chain these, for up to five segments (25m),
but reliability is 'variable', with some makes being very good, and others
extremely poor. There are also special transceivers, which send the USB
signals over much longer distances (some units offer over 1km). However the
'good' units tend to be expensive, and the cheap ones, are again variable in
quality...

Best Wishes
