Perhaps the "e" was dropped sometime after his ancestors arrived here in the
New World, depending.

I couldn't find anything suggesting why both names are seen. He was American,
and "Clarke" is an unusual spelling here.

been just that, and is located two-thirds of the way down in the central
portion of the state. Oxford, on the other hand, is in the north-central
portion of the state.

Why, most of the state suffers from very little light pollution.
I live just fifteen miles south of Memphis here in De Soto
county, and can clearly make out the Milky Way.

The eastern and southern portions of the sky are relatively
dark here at my precise location.

Any artificial light is bad, but since the casinos are to
the west, they are of relatively little consequence.
