Celestron Advanced series, any comments/experience?
Hi,
I currently have a 4" 'cheap&noname' reflector, which brought me safely into this exiting hobby :-) Now, I need more aperture (!) :-) but since I live in a small apartment, space restrictions apply and since the nearest good observing spot is a 20min drive out of town, portability is also an issue. Having read "Choosing and using a SCT" by Rod Mollise, I've come to the conclusion, that an 8" SCT might be the right choice for my next telescope, and I'm seriously considering the C8 S-GT. (while I'm at it, I might just as well get the goto feature, right?) Any comments/experience with the the Celestron Advanced series would be greatly appreciated, thanks alot :-) Søren -- --- Remove ROFL from mail address when replying direct. |

I recently purchased a Celestron NexStar 8i, and couldn't be more pleased.
The also have a great deal where you can get the iComp compter 40,000 object database, and a nice tripod all for $1299.00. Also, you can get several accessories, eyepieces and filters, for $99.00, only if you buy a new Celestron. I went ahead and added the GPS system to it, all totaled out around $1600.00. The scope is great, and every review I've read has been good. "Søren Kjærsgaard" wrote in message k... Soren,
My understanding is that Celestron has not yet begun to ship the Advanced Series C8 telescopes. Both Anacortes and Astronomics (if you know those two U.S. astronomy equipment retailers) have informed me that the C8 S-GT telescope should be available within a few weeks. Only time will tell.
