Yet more space history reprints...
Among the recent additions to the Black Cat Press Conquest of Space
series (http://www.black-cat-press.com) is E.F. Northrup's remarkable "autobiography", "Zero to Eighty". Writing under the pseudonym of Akkad Pseudoman, Northrup details the experiments he conducted in the 1920s and 1930s with electromagnetic launching devices...and in particular their application to space travel in providing the initial boost for rockets. In addition to a lengthy technical appendix there are numerous photographs and diagrams. "Zero to Eighty" is a seminal work, being to electromagnetic launching what Oberth's "Ways to Spaceflight" was to astronautics. RM |

RM I did a Google sitesearch on "pseudoman" and "northrup", and turned up nothing. I assume you mean this book? http://books.lulu.com/content/836262 I've been working on and off (mostly off) on a history of the idea of projectile launch to space. I have yet to do more than scratch the surface of the electromagnetic concepts. -michael turner |

I also did some research into the history of space guns while working on "The Dream Machines". An interesting and overlooked subject. R |
