Default 2" to 1.25" adapter

I got my new uo 5mm ortho, and I need a few extra mm of in travel to reach
focus with a 2" orion diagonal + adapter; the adapter adds 3/8" to the
top of the diagonal. Now my question is: if anyone has an adapter that
is less than that, can you please indicate a source for it?

The only other place where I could shave off a couple of mm would be at the
ring that locks the diagonal onto the focuser tube; is that a better idea?

As it is, I have to put in the original 1.25" diagonal to use this ep.
By the way, I tried it last night with my Orion 100mm f6 for 120x on Mars:
very sharp, polar cap spectacular plus some dark zones on the planet , but
the image was still too small. I'm waiting for my barlow to arrive!

Thanks,

Bogdan

HI:

AstroSystems used to make a low profile 1.25/2" adapter.

One thing you may consider is to look at the adjusting range on the primary.
Most mirror mounts have a good 1/2" or so of travel that you can use to move
the mirror slightly closer to the top of the tube.
I'd also recommend that you take one of the adjusting screws and not use it
when adjusting the collimation as this will keep a standard position in the
tube of the primary mirror. The other two screws are more than enough to do
collimation with.

Thanks everybody for their replies; I got an Antares 2 - 1.25 adapter
that is thinner than the Orion one - problem solved!

Cheers.............Bogdan
