Default Mars Rover climbing ability

I'm curious, now that the Spirit Rover is on it's way to some sizeable hills,
just what the climbing abilities of the rovers really is and if the engineers
that are aiming it towards those hills have any data from orbiting spacecraft
and ground images as to the slopes they'll encounter. I so want that Rover to
get up above it all and give us some really spellbounding panoramas of the
area. As much as the Rover's primary mission is science, I truly believe that
there's always a secondary mission of keeping the public thirst going. After
seeing some of the amazing sights of the Martian terrain from the orbiters I
really hope that the "postcard" views are as much a part of the planning as the
wonderful science we're collecting. A stunned public tends to make selling the
exploration and its cost so much easier.
