Default North Korea to become magnet for amateur astronomers?

With the previously closed country opening up to exploitation the dark skies could attract amateur astronomers.

Almost everybody on Earth already lives within just a two or three
hour drive of skies almost completely unimpacted by light pollution.
There are easier and more comfortable places for amateur astronomers
than NK!

In your dreams. Or those of people of other political persuasions.

I'm surprised the Chinese government allowed its seismologists to reveal that
North Korea was likely only suspending its nuclear tests because the area where
it was conducting them was in imminent danger of collapse.

But in any case, this is clearly just a wily stratagem to set up a "coalition
government" for a united Korea of which the Communists will take control - as
happened in several Eastern European countries after the end of World War II.

Sure. Patronize a vile dictatorship because you want darker skies. It's worse than people who vacation in Cuba because it's cheap. At least wait until the communist rodent is out of power, if that ever comes.

Running around NK at night with a telescope and camera. What could
conceivably go wrong?

Still, sounds like somewhere I would go if the hotels in ISIS-held
territory in Syria were all booked.

You can all ways go to S-Arabia, if you don't like communist dictatorships, but prefer monarchist dictatorship.
They're great friends of Israel and US!
Worst can happen, they chop your head off without trial! LOL!

Ahh! The best-laid plans of some observers might be dashed. N. Korea is now upset with war-games in the South and are threatening to kill the peace talks...

Ah! But von Trumpet is muzzling John 'Hipster' Bolton and promising to make Baby-Kim even richer than he is now!
i.e. Filthier rich.
And, promising to protect Baby-Kim, for life, from 25 million, newly rich and very angry, NK, AR15 owners.
The question is: Will von Trumpet allow 25 million filthy rich NKs into HIS GREAT COUNTRY?
You can't take down one wall between two countries and then build another.
Rich NKs will have no further interest in forced labour to build von Trumpet's GREAT WALL. Been there. Done that.

Perhaps von Trumpet will turn to the Great American Homeless resource?
The Great Wall would go up in a few hours from the eager workforce available in LA alone. 34k and counting? GR-R-EAT!
Oberst von Haspel will soon whip them into shape!
Provided, of course, there's enough water down in the BadLands border to allow regular "bathing!"
Y'all really couldn't make this up if you tried! ;-)
