The LA Times is reporting today's landing attempt was unsuccessful: SpaceX launches two satellites, but drone ship landing is unsuccessful. http://www.latimes.com/business/la-f...nap-story.html Elon Musk Verified account @elonmusk Looks like thrust was low on 1 of 3 landing engines. High g landings v sensitive to all engines operating at max. https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/743097337782763521 Here is a video (From several different angles) of the wreckage from that flight not yet unloaded from the barge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FdS4osHmn4 Admittedly it's hard to tell, but I see no apparent damage to the barge from the crash. Even the painted circle looks good. That deck seems to be pretty tough. Vaughn |

Surprised that even the yellow paint remained yellow on the barge. Why? Is the explosion just a big flash that burns out is seconds ? It's an uncontained fuel explosion. I keep telling you this and you keep not listening. -- "Some people get lost in thought because it's such unfamiliar territory." --G. Behn |

Maybe break the lens on a camera or something. Seriously, not a big deal. -- Greg D. Moore http://greenmountainsoftware.wordpress.com/ CEO QuiCR: Quick, Crowdsourced Responses. http://www.quicr.net |

This causes any shock wave to go up and out, away from the barge. The mere fact that there is structure down there and nowhere else makes that structure less likely to be damaged by the explosion, as odd as that sounds. -- "Insisting on perfect safety is for people who don't have the balls to live in the real world." -- Mary Shafer, NASA Dryden |
