Robin, this should all have been cross-posted to uk.rec.scouting; as
well as gaining an idea of how much YP might know at that age, one can
gain an idea of how little a Leader might know.

I have monitored the last two cross posting attempts on this subject and as
far as I can see, the ball has only been picked up here. My job is to
correct the facts in the original document and explain it as clearly as
possible, pitched at the same level as the original document but not higher.
I believe we are doing that successsfully . I would not presume to criticise
the level of the original.

The chief advantage would be to get them reading it; AIUI, Usenet has
many more readers than writers.

It would also serve as a general warning that anything else technical
*may* be of similar quality.

It would not, however, help you so much in your rewording; although
there are some there who are well-qualified to comment and more who are
good at misunderstanding such things.

Perhaps, before you submit your text for publication, you could get some
typical BLs to read it to see if they understand.

Hi John,

I have just tried it on a one leader and her husband who is an R+D manager.
Disappointingly, they had the same misconceptions as described in the
incorrect versions. They seem to be happy with the the revised versions,
though some handwaving on my part helped! I will cross post the original
and final versions and see if people can grasp the difference.

BTW I did not bother the group with the myriad of other errors, such as
Pluto sometimes "swaps orbits" with Neptune and Pluto has a "very large
moon" (Charon)

Robin
