Kamikaze Mars mission is back in news
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nation/6673981.html
Buzz Aldrin thinks it's a good idea; I hereby nominate Buzz to be the first man on Mars. But Buzz needs someone to keep him company up there, and given the bold imagination and innovation it will take to survive for long in that hostile environment, the obvious choice is that expert on absolutely everything, Dr. Michio Kaku...a man whose comprehensive scientific knowledge puts even Mr. Wizard to shame. See them boldly standing beneath the whirling moons of Barsoom. See them realizing that I have sabotaged their radio before liftoff, so that I need never need hear either of their voices again as I leave them marooned on that remote and forbidding sphere. See me laughing my ass off back on Earth while dressed like Ming The Merciless. Ah, bliss. Pat |

Kamikaze Mars mission...NASA to send Alzheimers patient to Mars
Maybe the poor sod will forget all about Planet Earth? "I know that a few Apollo-era astronauts have said that they would do a one-way mission," said Leroy Chiao" Oh, ya mean like in that movie Space Cowboys? Ya, that's a good one. Thank God NASA turned to Hollywood for their ideas. For a while there I was getting worried. Send Buzz please. Jonathan s |

Did anyone else think that he saw the gap in the science television ecosystem created by Sagan's death, and hopped in there before the corpse was even cold? Pat |

Are you the official NASA asshole, or just the butt-wipe in charge of infomercial damage-control? You even please "OM" to no end, so you must be another one of his kind. ~ BG |

Yes in deed it's cute, and at least currently the only viable alternative unless you've got a Boeing OASIS or that of my LSE-CM/ISS to work from. Why not end your advanced life doing exactly what you love best? We could always send Dick Cheney and Henry Kissinger, except there's no one else on Mars for either of them to screw with. ~ BG |

Well in the case of OM and Pat, they actively encourage others not to read my posts. That's different from merely not wanting to read it themselves. OM has spent years following my posts with things like, DONT READ I'm a known troll, nazi, pervert, and god knows how many other names I can't remember. He does it to lots of people. That's bad for any ng. *OM is a self appointed anti-welcome wagon. Why should I 'be nice' to people that try to drive me out of here? Thanks, Jeff -- "Take heart amid the deepening gloom that your dog is finally getting enough cheese" - Deteriorata - National Lampoon Why even try being the least bit nice to Zionist/Nazis and otherwise born-again Republicans (aka losers and parrots) like OM.and Pat. I'd return the topic/author bashing favor with all the love and affection that I could muster. ~ BG |
