Zan A magnet is a metal surrounded by a field of virtual photons. This
field aliens the electrons in a north south direction (all magnets have two poles. We see the fields lines of force using iron fillings Electric current flowing through a wire can produce an an electric field around it. To take away this field hit the magnet with a hammer,or get it red hot. Some metals have electrons that will not produce a magnetic field (stainless steel) Liquids having magnetic properties are useful. You can make magnetic Jello Magnetisim and electricity are two sides to the same coin. bert |
