ASTRO: IC 1311
IC 1311 is described in the IC catalog as an open star cluster with
nebulosity. Most of which is to the east and out my frame. To get the extent of the nebulosity involved I would need a wide angle scope capable of seeing many square degrees of sky. Something I am hoping to have going next year. This cluster plus nebulosity is located in Cygnus. Most internet images of this object concentrate on the nebula. Since it is way too big for my setup I went for the much neglected open star cluster. The nebula and cluster are about 4000 light years away. On the western edge of my shot is the dark nebula LDN 885. It is the dark finger coming in from the right edge (by a very bright star) and pointing at the top of the cluster. 14" LX200R @ f/10, L=4x10', RGB=2x10', STL-11000XM, Paramount ME Rick -- Correct domain name is arvig and it is net not com. Prefix is correct. Third character is a zero rather than a capital "Oh". |

Rick,
that looks nice with the cluster and the nebula to the left. Stefan "Rick Johnson" schrieb im Newsbeitrag ster.com... IC 1311 is described in the IC catalog as an open star cluster with nebulosity.
