No, I most certainly did not mean it that way. Sheesh!
I just meant, did anyone happen to see Carson observe the heavens? If anyone here did, perhaps they could share the experience. No one is a bigger fan of Carson than me. Bill G. HI Gang: Very sad news. Former Tonight Show host and long-time amateur astronomer Johnny Carson has died at 79. :-( Peace, Rod Mollise Author of _Choosing and Using a Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope_ Like SCTs and MCTs? Check-out sct-user, the mailing list for CAT fanciers! Goto http://members.aol.com/RMOLLISE/index.html Thanks to Johnny, Ames High School (IA) has 30 Celestron C-5s for use by 9th graders taking earth science (astronomy and geology)... Johnny donated them anonymously working with school science teacher, Jack Troeger. Johnny's only request was that they each have a plate, "In Memory of Carl Sagan". More than a thousand students have enriched their lives learning the night sky with those telescopes. They study for many weeks learning how to use and care for those instruments. Parents were not allowed to use the telescope without getting proper training as their kids have had. Thanks Johnny! |

I gave up watching the Tonight Show when he retired and they put that
guy with the chin implant on. Mr. Carson lived to be 79...but had he never smoked (his one vice as far as I can gather) he'd still be here. Maybe. Probably. A word to the wise. MY HALLIBURTON BOARD OF DIRECTORS RIGHT OR WRONG! |

You're probably right, but I can't remember. Tom would speak of he met Johnny and made the 10" for him. I remember people telling me that Carson would actually observe with the telescope. 30 years is a long time to do a TV show and it seems like just yesterday he did the last one. It was on too late for me most of the time, but whenever I did see it he left me rolling in the floor. I remember seeing Johnny Carson on "Who Do You Trust?"! |

Thanks, http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=plonk&r=67 networking, abuse (Possibly influenced by British slang "plonk" for cheap booze, or "plonker" for someone behaving stupidly; usually written "*plonk*") The sound a newbie makes as he falls to the bottom of a kill file. While this term originated in the Usenet newsgroup news:talk.bizarre, by 1994 it was widespread on Usenet and mailing lists as a form of public ridicule. Another theory is that it is an acronym for "Person with Little Or No Knowledge". |

I remember him mentioning a C-14. It was right around the time our club got
one, and I thought it was cool. I actually sent him a letter, plus some of our club publications for his reading. On 23 Jan 2005 13:38:47 -0800, "RMOLLISE" wrote: If I recall correctly, Johnny had quite a few scopes, including, at one time, a Questar 7 and a C14. |
