Bitcoin is the absolute proof that investors are delusional optimists.

Much like all the criminals in prisons.

Funding observatories to give them your name is so "yesterday."
Nowadays the obscenely wealthy stash their funds offshore.
Seeing their names is the last thing they want to read in the headlines! ;-)

Seething hatred of banks for it because they can't charge outrageous fees for transactions and seething hatred from governments that can't control it and track people by their purchases.
I love it.

Physics laboratories are in the news at the moment.

Ray Dolby's estate has just made the second largest ever donation to
Cambridge university for a new building for the Cavendish laboratory.

I love the idea that Bitcoin wasn't volatile enough for some investors
and so now we have "Bitcoin futures" as well! Tulip mania writ large!

I think that article is not behind a paywall.

There are plenty of manias all the time. There was a morse code key collection mania a few years back on Ebay. Prices went nuts. All because two rich buyers were vying with each other for them. Then one guy died. The "market" collapsed.
