Where is the best place to find the current position and magnitude of
the bright comet mentioned in the newspapers?

Since the Earth is turning it doesn't really matter much as
long as you are in the northern hemisphere and can see Perseus.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/17P/Holmes is also good.

If one wants to *see* the thing, the weather here is not all that co-
operative (there's evidence to suggest that it's generally better a few
kilometres to the South).

Currently Holmes is close to Mirfak; it was just about visible about 3
hours ago here.

From the UK, it's currently close to straight up at midnight.

The comet has dimed and become very fuzzy, no detail at all,
in the last week. But try it. Its large!
