[fitsbits] FITS changes
On Mon 2007-08-06T22:54:59 +0930, Kevin Thomas hath writ:
How does one know how many 2880 byte chunks preceed the image data???? That question is answered in the docs. If the file conforms to the standard then the 2880 byte chunk with the END card is the last one of the header. There weren't any other questions in the original post, so it's hard to provide any other answers other than to note that FITS was designed when 32 k was a lot of directly addressable memory, and everything else was found by running the tape back and forth until the item in question was either found or not. -- Steve Allen WGS-84 (GPS) UCO/Lick Observatory Natural Sciences II, Room 165 Lat +36.99855 University of California Voice: +1 831 459 3046 Lng -122.06015 Santa Cruz, CA 95064 http://www.ucolick.org/~sla/ Hgt +250 m |
