Double Cluster
It seems more colorful visually than I was able to capture. Think I
used too much exposure time saturating the stars too much. I'll have to try again with much shorter exposure times. If the weather ever clears that is. 14" LX200R@f/10, Lum=3x5 RGB=2x5 each all binned 2x2, STL-11000M, Paramount ME Rick -- Correct domain name is arvig and it is net not com. Prefix is correct. Third character is a zero rather than a capital "Oh". |

Double Cluster
Rick,
looks quite similar to my version of this object(s). Most stars are blue with some bright red ones (red giants?) thrown in the mix. I will have to reshoot it with a shorter focal length to make them stand out better from the surrounding field. Stefan "Rick Johnson" schrieb im Newsbeitrag ... The Double Cluster is one of those objects were it's hard to capture the visual beauty in an image. It's also one of those objects that loses something when viewed in a larger scope. I guess that's what keeps the sales of 4 inch refractors going. With bright open clusters I no longer use a Lum image. I find that just the RGB does better. Maybe it's my processing technique??!! George N I think you may be right on RGB. I did that with a couple open clusters a while back and preferred the result. I don't know why I went LRGB here. I still have 37 and 38 to process. I'll try both and see which works best as I did take lum frames of those. Also RGB helped bring out Pease 1 in M15. I never did get the LRGB version of Pac Man to work well either. Rick |
