Old Tele Vue Widefields

Hi,

I currently have a 19mm Tele Vue widefield, and think it's a fine
eyepiece. A friend of mine wants to get a used 22mm Pan or a Tele Vue
24mm Widefield for his f/10 SCT. I know my 19mm performs well, and
barlows the same, but have not used any of the others in the widefield
line. How does the 24mm WF compare to a 22mm Pan? Also, how does the
older line in general perform?

It doesn't compare. The 24mm is nothing but a refined Erfle. The
Panoptics are far better, particularly when you look at edge
definition. There is no comparison.

I've owned the entire line of TeleVue Widefields and sold them all once
the Panoptics were available. I've never regretted it.
In every focal length, the Pans are sharper, contrastier, less prone to
ghosting and false color and have much better edge correction.
The 22 Pan is a "no-brainer" choice vs. the old 24 WF.
The 24 Pan is, in my opinion,the best widefield 1-1/4" eyepiece on this
planet.
