Default Russian: MEN WILL BE FIRST TO GO TO MARS

JimO: This is the same guy, five years ago, who blamed the Canadian woman
Judith Lapierre for all the

tensions in the space isolation simulator when she was such a spoilsport
about being french kissed by

amorous russian crewmates -- and who wouldn't open the latch to let her out
until she withdrew her

emailed complaints. Discussed in my book 'Star-Crossed Orbits'. Will a few
'fragile and delicate creatures'

go up to his office and kick the living daylights out of him, please?

MOSCOW, February 10 (RIA Novosti) - There would be probably no women on the
first flight to Mars, Director of the Institute of Medical and Biological
Problems (IMBP), academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of
the Presidential Council on Sciences and Education Anatoly Grigoryev
announced after his speech in front of the students of the Moscow
International University.

"After all, women are fragile and delicate creatures; that is why men should
lead the way to distant planets and carry women there in their strong
hands," the head of IMBP said with a smile.

If Europe and the U.S. take part in a joint first spaceflight to Mars,
using a mixed crew, the first person to step on Mars might be a woman.

Can't have meaningful discussions on such a taboo subject here. Lets
just hope that program managers will be able to get over taboos and
politically correct barriers and discuss real issues of crew
compatibility.

Was it a mistake to accept someone who would refuse advances from
others, or was it a mistake to expect that the crew would be able to
keep to themselves for so long ? If you're going to allow couples only,
this has serious implications for training since you can't just pick
individuals from a pool of astronauts, you need to pick individuals and
then train their spouses. And you need to have good appreciation of
whether a couple will last through the mission without wanting a divorce
in space.

NASA and RSA have to get over the taboos and start to really test
various crew "configs" and they may also consider sending couples to the
station to see what sort of interactions happen.

It's not a mistake, in my opinion, to expect people to act like
professionals, and not sexist pigs who think that women were placed on
earth solely to sate their desires..

Can't even compliment him and get a mere "thanks". Imagine that?

It might also be a toddler.

Excuse me, a woman got angry and upset because she was unwantingly got
kissed by her fellow crewmate and people kept asking on why women are
NOT allowed aboard?

Look, why not just send a group of a women into the mouth of a volcano
while we're at it?

Not allowing them of course would be a bad thing.

As for "a few 'fragile and delicate creatures' go up to his office and
kick the living daylights out of him".

A group of creatures lacking in intelligence probably can be
manipulated into doing such bad thing by such comment.

Anyway. Men and women exceed at their own expertise.

There are reasons on why women made good telephone operators and men
made lousy telephone operators.

While it's good to combine the two, there are certain places on where
they shouldn't be combined.

Then again, there's always people would kept pusing a round peg into a
square hole or vice versa and kept wishing for it to work.

Round peg into round hole, square peg into square hole, it's as simple
as that.
