Hey, Double-A.
In a rush, sos I wanted to let you know that I haven't checked your G-math
post yet.
Well, math isn't one of my stronger strengths, but you look like you're real
good at it.

So you might want to dig deeper into the "gravitational constant".
Is it a constant? or a fudge factor.
And if it's a fudge factor, what's it fudging for?
Stuff like that.
Now I Really gotta go, so see ya!

Lomie

nightbat

The field fudge factors in the human mind because to a certain
extent it does always appear to be a constant except for special cases.

Only to a raving pseudoscientific saucerhead.

Stay well Lomie look out for my Sil and please tell her for me she has a
wonderful little sister.

Hi Lomie,

In a sense G is a fudge factor. The gravitational constant was stuck
in by Newton to make his equation of gravity jibe with his equation of
motion F=ma. It also implies the giant assumption that gravity is a
force.

BZZZZZZT try again, saucerhead.

The constant is a different number if you compute in metric
units than if you compute in English system units.

Irrelevant.

My idea is that gravity may not be so simple as to merely follow the
1/x^2 relationship. It might be better described using an equation
with more terms.

You can put in 50 terms if you like. Fortunately engineers when
designing bridges and buildings correctly use only one term.

Even though I majored in math, regrettably I have forgotten much of it
over the years. Fortunately there are now lots of good tutorials
online for anyone who wants to brush up on what they've forgotten, or
what they never quite got while being rushed through the educational
system.

I'm glad you at least noticed my equation. I thought it had been
completely ignored.

When do you submit your paper for publication?

Have a good voyage!

Double-A

IDIOT !!

Honestly, Honest John, why do you have to seem so mean spirited?
You could be So much nicer.
You've already proved that.

Would it help if I told you you're one of the more interesting posters

to
alt.astronomy?
Well, you are, and again I can see this in your posts.

I suppose if you really want to appear like this, all mean and nasty and

all
to other posters, that's okay with me.
But I know you're capable of So much more nice behavior.

I know I said some things before that may have seemed mean and nasty.
But it was all in fun, honest!
And yet, maybe an apology would help in this situation.

So Honest John, I want you to know that if I ever said or did Anything

to
hurt your feelings or to make you feel so bad that you feel you must
constantly call me names, then I want you to know that Deep down, from

the
bottom of my heart

FRANKLY, MY DEAR, I DON'T GIVE A DAMN !

Oh! almost forgot::: " hee hee "

WHEW !
Thank you, H.J., I needed that.

Lummox

P.S.: So anyways, this'll be my last post for awhile.
I just got a signal from Silouen, and she's having some problems with

the
Polarians.
And she wants me to come and help.
I mean, she wants ME to come.
You believe that?
It's the first time ever!
It's always Sil helping Lomie, not the other way around, you know?
And now she's asking for My help.

So, I gotta go and see if I can help her.
Meanwhile, let's see who's in charge of the sector while I'm gone.
Oh no way!
Shut UP!
The next ranking one is human, remember Kiyo?
Oh yeah, I see where she's been in charge before.
Okay cool.
Kiyo's very reserved and quiet, but she'd probably respond to any

question
directed to her.
I gotta go, so signing off now.

Guess I'm "Gone With the Wind". G

Lomie

nightbat

Wait Lomie take me with you I can help! Oh the humanity, my love
and now Lomie in trouble, no, no. And now Kiyo, what the heck, alright
if that's the way it's got to be, stay save Lomie, don't forget to
write.

on alert,
the nightbat

I wish I could take you with me, The Nightbat, I wish I could!
Try not to worry, and take care of all these astronomers for me, okay?

Astronomers? Hahahahahahahahaha

Darla sends her love, BTW, and Pere, yes Pere(!) sent greetings to you as
well.
Sil says not to worry because it's probably nothing Sirius. hee heee
"Don't forget to write?" now That's cute. G

Lomie

Our panelists will now vote on which Darla sock will show up next:

Aaah! The sweet sound of Usenet silence.

I opened up ARK and there were more than 300 posts of kookslime in this
thread. Slimy slimes sliming other slimes with slime between their teeth.

Okay, you can all go back to your bickering again.

But NOT HERE. I don't LIKE having to go down 300 posts in a thread to find
the ten or so that are from actual ARKites, and I ain't turnin' on no
scorefile thingy NOHOW, that's way too much work.
