I am fond of sci.astro.amateur in that readers can't hide behind a firewall of voodoo and moderation yet the whole point of this particular exercise is that nobody needs convincing that the Earth has two separate surface rotations to the central Sun as a means to explain the seasons and as a lead in to planetary climate.

It is actually brilliant that people don't really honor astronomical innovators as the nature of these researches don't really allow it by virtue there are always new perspective doors to open,things to modify and expand with new tools and new circumstances. Sure it is wonderful to walk along a new path that others have never walked before and that is the real reward however I too have tread on the same path as other astronomers but have seen on that journey of many paths where they made a wrong turn with a dead end to it.

With people living at the South pole it is fairly easy to consider the seasons in a way that wouldn't have occurred to Copernicus,Galileo and their contemporaries as we are familiar with the polar day/night cycle hence this is the path to the surface rotation as a function of the Earth motion around the Sun and through space. In the era of YouTube it is only a matter of time before the visual explanation emerges and I look forward to that.

Using a stopwatch,a normal watch and two threads, any student can affirm what Kepler couldn't insofar as accurate watches had yet to emerge in his era.. The dual surface rotations,one unequal and one constant affirm that the planet varies it speed as it moves around the Sun. With each daily sweep across a meridian the Sun will take more or less time from the average 24 hour depending on where the planet is in its orbit with the variations arising from the surface rotation as a function of its orbital motion, the faster the planet moves through space the more pronounced its orbital surface rotation is.

The person standing on the poles sees one dawn and one sunset basically affirming a surface rotation much like daily rotation but quite separate. This is so easy to appreciate that it is certainly a phenomenon that it isn't and sets off this era as remarkable for all the wrong reasons. Instead of behaving like men and just dealing with the technical details there is this rotten silence that all the other social comments in the other threads can disguise.

The video explanation is coming anyway so spew out that sour and dismal response or the inanities of social/political opinions, genuine astronomy will prevail after centuries of misuse.
