Default No Shuttle launch, Shuttle program mothballed?

I heard some rumours in the press that if they fail to get Discovery off the
pad this week the Shuttle program will be mothballed. I find it very hard to
believe. Is there any truth in these reports?

I mean, I can imagine if the Shuttle blows up again and kills all the
astronauts they will mothball the thing, but not because there is a delay,
for Christ sake!

No. Many in the press are idiots.
