NASA Student Employees Chat With Space Station Crew

Tidwell Johnson Space Center, Houston (Phone: 281/483-5111) RELEASE: 03-257 NASA STUDENT EMPLOYEES CHAT WITH SPACE STATION CREW NASA's student employees will end their summer with an out-of-this-world experience. While most students are preparing to head back to school, students who worked at NASA facilities will talk with the crew aboard the International Space Station. Students at NASA's Johnson Space Center, Houston and Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md., will have the unique opportunity to interact directly with Expedition 7 crewmembers, Commander Yuri Malenchenko and NASA Space Station Science Officer Ed Lu. Additionally, students will chat with Expedition 7 lead Flight Director John McCullough and NASA's Chief Scientist and astronaut Dr. Shannon Lucid. The live downlink portion of the program will be broadcast live on NASA TV beginning at 11:35 a.m. EDT, Wednesday. NASA TV is located at AMC-9, transponder 9C, C-Band, located 85 degrees west longitude. The frequency is 3880.0 MHz. Polarization is vertical, and audio is monaural at 6.80 MHz. This event is part of NASA's Teaching From Space Program. The program enables educational opportunities using the environment of human space flight. The program builds partnerships with education communities to create learning opportunities through the use of NASA research and educational technology. Many NASA educational and employment programs are available for students nationwide. These programs give students the opportunity to work at NASA centers with scientists and engineers.
