I mean he might be rich, but I doubt even he can afford a ground-based telescope that could take a picture like that! All those people getting orgasmic when a very faint fuzzy blob might or might not have got brighter... looked like the definition of sad. The mission and the science and the pics from space might be very exciting. It might be amazing to be rich enough or clever enough to actually get a scope pointing at the right place at the right time. But what these guys actually saw was deadly dull - no wonder people are turned off. -- Martin Frey http://www.hadastro.org.uk N 51 02 E 0 47 |

I've just watched the repeat on BBC 4 because it's on to late on a
Sunday only to find I've already seen it. It was shown on BBC 2 at 10am on Sunday morning as a repeat. Were there 2 sky at night programs or did the beeb repeat it before they had shown it ? |

Well the one not marked as a repeat was described as "fallout from deep
impact". What was the one that you did see about? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tyla" Newsgroups: uk.sci.astronomy Sent: Wednesday, July 13, 2005 8:56 PM Subject: Sky @ Night - special ed. last night I've just watched the repeat on BBC 4 because it's on to late on a Sunday only to find I've already seen it. I think the Sky at Night program was very poor, as was the Starwatch
program I saw on BBC 2 as well. Patrick's enthiusiasm is undimmed but he is clearly in difficulties and is uncomfortable to watch. Chris Lintot is deadly dull. Surely, whatever affection we feel for Patrick Moore, the time has come for the BBC to 'retire' this program, or at least revamp it in a major way. |
