Dark, yes, but still pretty soaking wet, even on the west side of the
Great Dividing Range. When I observed from the New South Wales club's
site near Wiruna, an April night that they called relatively dry was
unacceptably damp for me. I must be too spoiled by desert observing by
now.

I have limited data based on only four two-week vacations in Australia,
but my experience was that you wanted to be a couple hundred miles away
from the coast. Perhaps an Aussie can chime in with some advice on
where to go.

G'day,
We're in the midst of a prolonged dry peiod. I live about 85km inland from
Byron Bay, Northern NSW Aust. We have clear, dark skies and it has only
rained about 4 times in the last six months.
Most of Australia is in drought. Southern states not so much so.
Come over some time.
