Just when you think you've uncovered the last Soviet space secret:

Although shown as riding on the tank under it, I suspect its supposed to
fold up and go _into_ the tank, and that it's some sort of space
lifeboat to return stranded cosmonauts to Earth after separating from a
orbiting spacecraft.
