Bridge Across Mississippi Collapses in Minneapolis!

"MINNEAPOLIS -- A four-lane interstate bridge spanning the Mississippi
River collapsed during evening rush hour Wednesday, sending vehicles
and tons of concrete crashing into the water.

Two people have been confirmed dead, and the number is expected to
grow.

The entire span of the Interstate 35W bridge collapsed about 6:05 p.m.
A tractor-trailer caught fire, and flame and black smoke billowed into
the sky.

The bridge was reportedly under construction. Traffic had been reduced
to one or two lanes in each direction."

This is incredible! No earthquake, no sign of sabotage, the bridge
just went down all at once into the river!

I think I crossed that span when I was in Minneapolis some years
ago!

What could have caused this? They strengthened all the bridges around
here after those San Francisco earthquake freeway collapses some years
ago.
