Comet Holmes (P/17) in Perseus suddenly went from 18th magnitude to 3rd.
It's easy tonight naked eye even with the moon though looks pretty starlike to me, even in 7x20 binoculars. Takes the 10x50s to show the coma. The dang core so staturated me CCD that in only 1 second it was blooming my antiblooming chip!! So this is a series of half second exposures. Yeah, half second. I used 11 of them and 4 each of one second color images. I expected green, I got reddish creme instead. Moonlight? This is through high cirrus which are quite bright in the moon. I need Stefan to process this. 0017P Date UT R.A. (J2000) Decl. Nice one. Looks like a planetary nebula.
