Default 400d Question

Does anyone here use the 400d or any other dslr to take sky pictures?

With or without attachments?

Let me know how you use a dslr for night sky photography.

Thanks, Matt.

I have a Nikon D200, no mods. I haven't done much astro with it
yet as I don't have a tracking scope. I did rig up a t-ring for
the scope and have done some lunar and planetary attempts, but
that just shows how old the scope and how bad the mirror is.

I have done rocket launches, satellites, and Iridium flares.

I am awaiting the possibility of a new scope before doing anything
more serious. However, I seem to be having a budget vs desires
issue. If I keep my budget reasonable, I'm not happy with the
selection. If I make myself happy, I'm broke.

But then, I may be setting my standards too high. I tend to be a
perfectionist. I set out for a "decent" camera under $800 and
ended up with the D200. Can't complain, though. I'm quite happy.
There were several features that were required that I could not
find all on the same camera until I got into the low end pro
stuff.
