Default My latest moon astrophotos... an improvement

Hi all,

A little back, I was asking in this newsgroup for first-time advice on
astrophotography. I was having difficulty getting my Logitech Quickcam
(cmos) to focus on anything. Everything was blurred.

http://dreada.tripod.com/astronomy.htm

Well a month later, I think I have made some good progress, since I removed
the entire cmos circuit board out of the cam body and fixed (using elastic
bands) the circuit board and cmos sensor directly over the focuser for prime
focus. I also started using K3CCDTools instead of the Logitech Studio
software because of the increased control this special software provides.

Results are definitely better as can be seen on my webpage, not perfect, but
they're getting there. Opinions? )

Also can any help me identify features on the latest moon pics?
http://dreada.tripod.com/astronomy.htm

Thanks,

Dre

These pic's are good. As you said there's still a little room for
impovement. You might want to make a device to help you get better focus,
yours was good, but not quite on the sweet spot (which takes ages to get).
It might have been the wind blowing it about a little though, plays hell
with the focus.

The exposure is good, nice and contrasty. If you keep the exposure locked,
you could take lots of picures of the whole surface of the moon, then stitch
them together. Makes a really good image.

That's the one. Did you get the photo marked up? If not, here it is
via my website (I can't post binaries here, never, not ever ;-) ).

Awesome!! As a complete "astro-newbie", I don't think I'd would have able
to match it up to a map so well.

What are you using for a map?

You obviously know your way around the
moon, lol!! )

Thats definitely going up on my site as my prized treasure for now!!

Thanks a lot,

Dre

What are you using for a map? You might want to try Virtual Moon Atlas. It's
free and very good.

You obviously know your way around the
moon,

Pete's good!
