The Messier Ten Minute Challenge

M106 - A Spiral Galaxy in Canes Venatici

M106 or NGC 4258 is a Sb type spiral galaxy seen from a distance of
about 25 million light years. In the top-right corner of this image
the magnitude 13 galaxy NGC 4248 can alos be seen. M106 was not part
of Messier's original catalogue. It was discovered by Messier's
colleague Mechain and was only added to the Messier catalogue in 1947.
