Default Fred L. Whipple, RIP

He passed away this morning at age 97. I listened to an incredible list of
accomplishments told to me this afternoon by the public information officer
at Whipple Observatory in here southern Arizona.

Good God... "here in southern Arizona."

Wally, thank you for posting the CNN link from 2 years ago. That'll give the
people an idea of a few of the things he did.

The guy was 97! I think the community lost him decades ago.
Like rompin Ronny who actually left the building 10 years ago.

I met him only a couple of years ago, at the launch of the ill-fated Contour
mission- a project he was actively involved in. He was productive to the end.

I should hope so. I corrected my own mistake. I'm sure Fred has forgiven me
already.
