The orbital daylight/darkness cycle and the fascinating way the Earth orbits the Sun using an axis stretching through the center of the Earth from Arctic to Antarctic circle requires a formal setting,in an era where the Earth is seen from space there is no excuse for ignoring the dynamic which causes the polar coordinates to turn through the circle of illumination whereby one side of the Earth turns to the Sun for 6 months and the other side turns away for 6 months . Having very clear and decisive ideas are fine so long as there are enough readers who can deal with the correspondence between cause and effect and there is nothing to indicate that the technical issues which introduce an additional orbital component is in anyway difficult in acknowledging as cause and effect and unfamiliarity is no longer an issue either. Time to move on guys,modern imaging demands it in getting rid of those awkward descriptions of the Equinox event which do not incorporate the orbital day/night cycle and its cause - "An equinox occurs twice a year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the center of the Sun being in the same plane as the Earth's equator. The term equinox can also be used in a broader sense, meaning the date when such a passage happens." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equinox The modified explanation is that the Equinox is an orbital event where the Earth orbitally turns to the central Sun in bringing the polar coordinates in line with the circle of illumination and orthogonal to the central Sun.This requires a formal setting rather than the serious misadventure of trying to ignore both the orbital day/night effect and its orbital cause. |
