If I were to buy a good star atlas, what would you recommend? (shopping
around for xmas gifts)

around for xmas gifts)

For beginners, DEEPMAP 600 (available from Orion Telescopes). For
intermediate amateurs, SKY ATLAS 2000.0 (available from Sky Publishing). For
intermediate to advanced amateurs, the second edition of URANOMETRIA 2000.0
(available from Willman-Bell). Clear skies to you.
