ASTRO: M101
My "project galaxy" this spring was M101, trying to improve upon an image I
took under good skies in 2005 with my old 8"LX200. With better equipment and three times more exposure time the new image is indeed better than the old one. I imaged M101 in four nights and got about 9 hours for luminance and a bit more than three hours for RGB (colour version will follow). Taken from the middle of Berlin with a 10" Meade ACF at f/5.7 on a G11 mount, SXV-H9 camera, 109x5 minutes. The picture can also be found at http://ccd-astronomy.de/temp/M101-109x5gut.jpg And the old picture for comparison: http://ccd-astronomy.de/temp/M101-31x5gut.jpg Stefan |
