This evenings Moon taken with Nikon D200 on 6" Newt at f10.

Stack of 26 out of 70 frames using Registax, some wavelets,
then some unsharp and resize in Gimp.

That f10 makes a sharp image. Nice one, Brian.

Well, the scope is only f5, but I had a 2x barlow on it.

The size reduction and post process sharpening is what made it
work. The original frames are not very good.

This is an old Meade 6600 scope that I got back in 1986 and back
then when I was younger I didn't take care of it very well. I also
think it has a turned edge.

Either that, or I still haven't mastered the art of collimation,
which is a distinct possibility. I don't see airy discs all that
often.

I'd bet that good seeing was the key to this image Brian, not the scope.
Whatever it was, it turned out to be a really impressive image!

I've always found using a good Barlow to be better than eyepiece
projection. Eyepieces were never intended to be projection lenses. You also
need to keep within reason. If your scope can resolve .5 arc seconds there's
no sense in blowing up the image so much that you have an image scale of .1
arc second per pixel.
