The Moon goes dark red during full eclipse, the Moon is orange upon
rising and it is rising (in the Northeast) during totality. I wonder
if it will even be visible on the horizon?

Rich,

I don't know if it will be visible at rising but I'm
going to try for it.

We are planning a webcast with ~10 telescopes in different places around
Norway via http://www.astronomi.no/

Of course, weather is a major factor, but at this time the forecast isn't
hopeless.

We are quite fortunate (at least for now) with predictions for perfect
weather. In fact, we have a string of four to five days, centered around
the eclipse, where the weather is expected to be perfect.

Mr Murphy, please go somewhere else.

Anthony.

brothers of man, who even now fight to survive, somewhere beyond the
heavens.

Tnx, Anthony. It seems he is coming this way...and we'd planned a
wide-screen presentation with four laptops equipped with cameras, webcams
and so on...:-)
Keep fingers crossed...

Even if the weather forecast was anything other than dismal, the
eclipse will be over by moonrise here.

August is another matter: we'll have a ringside seat, though
dawn will interfere toward the end. Decent weather prospects
too.
