Entropy is the fifth dimension.
PRE At the giga·parsec scale, the distribution of mass·energy in the known ( visible ) Universe has ALWAYS been uniform; in other words, 4·D space·time has always been Euclidean*. ( *: 4·D flat, straight, not warped ). At this (net net) scale, (spontaneoous) entropy is the fifth dimension. Over giga·years, as A hRef="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exergy"eXergy/A is consumed ( i.e. as mass·energy thins ), space accrues exponentially. Plot it out, and you get a 5·D hyperbolic structure, like the nose cone of a jet ( but in 5·D, not 3·D ). As I said, Gravity is eXergy and “dark energy” is entropy. In the standard model of cosmology, “dark energy” is modeled as A hRef="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmological_constant#Positive_cosmological_consta nt"a positive cosmological constant/A, 10^-35 second^-2, or 10^-47 GeV^4, or 10^-29 g/cm^3, or about 10^-120 in reduced Planck units. |
