Software for Astronomical Chart of Celestial Objects
I am an amateur astronomer from India. What I want to know is :
Is there any software which will plot graphically the different celestial objects of night sky, based on location (latitude & longitude) of the observer, and which will plot the 'Altitude' & 'Azimuth' (in Altazimuth System) of different celestial objects dynamically with respect to the Local time of the observer's place. Please help Regards Sanjoy |

Software for Astronomical Chart of Celestial Objects
Thanks a lot for all of your help. I'm really overwhelmed. All the software
recommended are Amazing and will start a new era among the amateur astronomers of India. Thanks a lot Regards Sanjoy Jon Isaacs wrote in message ... Please help Regards Sanjoy As others have recommended, try Cartes du Ciel. This is a top quality program that is competitive with the commercial programs available. It offers large databases of all types of objects, stars, double stars, variable stars, and of course Deep Space Objects. You can customize the look so that it suits your needed. It has nice photo-graphical representations of the planets as well as tracking Jupiter's moons. I will create AVI and Gif animations of various events..... www.astrosurf.com/astropc There are others but IMHO, this is the best. jon |

Its not often one comes across software that is truly amazing but this little baby is a real gem. http://www.shatters.net/celestia/ NOTE, you need a fast cpu and lots of ram to have it running nicely, linux and windows versions available, free too ;-) Thanks a lot Regards Sanjoy Jon Isaacs wrote in message ... I think something more along the lines of Starry night or some other planetarium type program would better suite his needs. You are right, though. Celestia is a gem. Completely free too. Tons and tons of add-ons and High resolution textures and blah blah blah... When I first used this program a few months ago, you couldn't get me to stop talking about. Kinda like now |
