NASA SELECTS PR NEWSWIRE AS NEWS DISTRIBUTION SERVICE

NASA today announced the selection of PR Newswire as its official news
distribution service. As the news distribution service of NASA, PR Newswire
will
disseminate news releases about the agency's exploration programs, status
reports
on human and robotic missions, educational and historical programs,
technological
innovations and all other activities.

Through PR Newswire's dedicated newslines, NASA's news will reach millions
of
journalists, members of the general public, government officials and
professionals in the technology and science community eager to learn about
the
agency's accomplishments and discoveries.

"We first migrated to electronic news distribution about 10 years ago, but
it was
time to take the next step," said NASA Assistant Administrator for Public
Affairs
Glenn Mahone. "This suite of services will allow us to speak directly to
thousands of journalists and the American public in ways never before
possible,
with the help of a known, trusted and respected provider."

News releases from NASA also will be available on PR Newswire for
Journalists, a
media-only web site with more than 78,000 registered reporters. Members of
the
media who wish to set up a direct email feed of NASA's news releases should
register at www.prnewswire.com/media.

"Interest in scientific discoveries and space exploration is global and many
news
organizations do not have the resources to send reporters to cover every
NASA
event," said David B. Armon, chief operating officer of PR Newswire. "We
are
gratified that NASA sees the importance of distributing its time-sensitive
breaking news through PR Newswire to reach the millions of journalists and
other
people with interest in their news."

PR Newswire releases and other information are distributed by satellite
directly
into newsroom computer systems, as well as through the Associated Press and
other
subscription-based services. Through PR Newswire, NASA's news and
information
also will be optimized for easier retrieval in major Internet search
engines.

"Everywhere a journalist looks for news, they'll find PR Newswire, so NASA
will
benefit from greater reach than if they were to distribute their releases on
their own," said Armon.

For more than 50 years, PR Newswire has provided electronic news
distribution,
targeting, measurement and translation and broadcast services for more than
40,000 government, corporate, non-profit and other organizations.

"From our highly popular home on the Internet to our ongoing migration to
digital
video and information services, NASA is continually looking to exploit
emerging
technologies for the benefit of our internal and external audiences," added
Mahone. "Utilizing these services are just the next step in our ongoing
commitment to share NASA's exciting missions of exploration and discovery
with
the entire world."
