Default FLASH: 16" RC SCOPE FROM CHINA!!!

Just what is a "Rayleigh-Criterion" Cassegrain
anyway? And I love where they refer to an
achromatic doublet as a "bi-separated eliminating
chromatic aberration refracting system."
Say that 3 times fast.

it appears to be a 16" F12 cassegrain with a 6" piggyback achromat on a
EM3500 clone. I think they mean Ritchey Chretien. Raleigh Criterion is
a fancy way to say 1/4wave . In other words this telescope's name
literaly means "minimally acceptable".

If it is imported en' mass I would expect to see it rebranded.

I thought they just didn't realize that Criterion is a brand name. But
since that is also an optics term, they could well have taken the
initials, and picked the wrong one.

Yes.
My thinking is that the site was probably written by a 'non English
speaker', who had been told the scope was an 'RC', and did a search on
astronomical sites for the meaning of these letters...

Best Wishes

On January 3, Meade changed the face of astronomy.
On January 14th, the Chinese rolled their own.

Popcorn, anyone?

Uncle Bob

The 41cm/16" is not the largest RC on their list. They have made RC
scopes of 1.5m/59" and 2.16m/85" aperture, and a Cassegrain of 1.01m/40"
aperture, among others.

Of course, these are not "amateur" instruments, but not too many
amateurs can afford a 16" RC either.

Best Regards,
John.

Can you say "Lost in translation"?

The Chinese don't suffer criticism of any kind -- you will "uporrogize"
(apologize) immediately!
