Default ServoCat install

Well, I took the plunge this week and installed a servocat on my 18"
Obsession.

(For those of you not aware, Servocat is a goto and tracking add-on /
retrofit / factory installed setup for dobsonians)

I'm not quite done yet - there was a slight problem with the piviot
pin - evidently the machinist didn't size it quite right and they are
shipping out another, but the bulk of the install is finished. What's
left will take me about 10 minutes.

Overall, it was an incredibly easy install. I was somewhat anxious as
I'd just purchased my scope earlier this year and I had that whole "I
just paid $$$ for this thing and now you want me to drill holes in it?"
thing going, but my apprehensions seemed to be groundless.

Not including running around time I'd estimate the entire install took
3-4 hours. It might even take less if you don't assume your local shop
teacher will automatically have everything you need. g

For any interested, I've found Gary Meyers (www.servocat.com) to be
extremely helpful, and his documentation is top notch - extremely easy
to follow.

If you are holding off on a purchase of a servocat because you are
apprehensive about the install - don't.
