Default ISS debris avoidance question

I've noted that on our last two Shuttle flights to the ISS, it has had
to be maneuvered to avoid the threat of collision with space debris.
Since I assume that space debris doesn't just get near it when a Shuttle
is around, what is the average frequency of it needing to do avoidance
maneuvers to prevent a collision threat?

Pat
