Default BIG BANG & AGES OF EARTH/UNIVERSE

Has modern science proven the ages of the earth and universe? How about the Big Bang? What do I say to a friend that is convinced the earth is no older than 10,000 years old?

Thank you for your informed opinion.

Religion ignores science. Alas, all we can do is ignore religion.

There's a wide range of scientific *evidence* from a
number of disciplines that show that the Earth is
some 4.6 billion years old. Cosmological evidence
similarly suggests that the universe is over 12
billion years old.

This evidence is abundantly and easily available for
those who choose to look for it. A few moments with
Google will turn up plenty to make a good start.
Original sources can be found in any competent library.

Alas, nothing can be done for those who choose *not*
to look for it.

Ask your friend if he'll show you the scientific,
peer-reviewed evidence for his point of view.
