this is red and green data combined together to make a mono image

just getting started on this

total of about 5 hours of data (3H green and 2H red)

the seeing was pretty good but the breeze continues to be an issue for the
big cass

I take it the wind caused you to start with the color channels first.
Nice start in any case.

Now that my seeing has improved this is one I need to revisit. Last
year has seen far better seeing than I had originally as the jet stream
has decided to spend more time south of me instead of overhead.

You need some walls around you. My tube is shorter of course but solid.
I can get good results in winds up to 30 mph. Over that debris from
trees can blow in and do damage so I shut down but not because the scope
is bouncing around. I have walls that prevent imaging below about 15
degrees above the horizon but seeing is so bad and atmosphere blocks so
much light I can't even go that low so not a problem and the walls do
prevent wind problems. Good insulation helps so they don't get warm in
the sun then create seeing problems all night as they cool down again.

Richard,

now that looks promising. If the colour channels look that good I hope the
luminance will match them.

Actually there's a different reason why I did color first. I don't have a
clear filter in my wheel, I have an empty slot instead

because of that I need to adjust my guide camera to compensate for the no
filter to have it in focus instead of dealing with crescent stars...

so it was easier to just shoot RGB instead of LRGB

I agree with you about needing a shield for the wind. This weekend the wife
and I discussed where I may place my observatory and the five trees that
need to be felled.... she's OK with the program!

Thanks Stefan

I am not sure if I will shoot luminance or not

but the seeing is the key factor and the wind

the seeing looks like it runs good quite often

the wind is luck of the draw though
