The University of Arizona Department of Astronomy and Steward Observatory
invites applications for a postdoctoral Research Associate position to
work with Dr. Xiaohui Fan and collaborators on areas of Extragalactic Astronomy
and Cosmology. Expertise in observational cosmology, high-redshift galaxies,
quasars/AGNs, quasar absorption lines, large scale structure, galaxy clusters,
and experience in optical/IR observation or working with large datasets is
highly desired, but not required. Strong candidates from any subfield of
astronomy will be considered. By the start date (Fall of 2005),
the candidate must have a Ph.D. in Astronomy, Physics, or a related field.

The successful applicant will be provided a research budget and
is encouraged to carry out independent, original research.
He/she will have full access to the observational facilities of
the University of Arizona, including the 8.4m Large Binocular Telescope
(first light Fall 2004), the 6.5m MMT telescope, the two 6.5m Magellan
Telescopes, the 2.3m Bok Telescope and the 10m Heinrich-Hertz
Sub-millimeter Telescope, as well as advanced computing facilities at Steward.
