The Medusa
The entire empirical modeling of the solar system inherited from Newton is based on RA/Dec where the Sun wanders up and down against a celestial sphere -
http://community.dur.ac.uk/john.luce...solar_year.gif They now model or manipulate imaging to suit that RA/Dec conclusion where the Earth has a zero degree inclination and a pivoting circle of illumination off the Earth's Equator ! - https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap170319.html If they manipulated imaging to show a flat Earth it wouldn't be half as offensive as that monstrosity. These are the same people who manufacture 'climate change' and the fact is that it is exceptionally unhealthy for students and a productive/creative society. A person's mind would turn to stone if they accepted this modeling monstrosity but then again, these 'explanations' don't come from off-beat website but major institutions or conduits for information. |

The Medusa
In order to explain the cause of the seasons as a combination of daily and orbital rotational actions to students, it is necessary to look at the effects of the orbital component through the Polar day/night cycle at the North and South Poles.
Get the students to walk around a table representing the Earth's orbit of the Sun. Tell them to keep facing in one direction at all times so that they find themselves walking forward, sideways, backwards by turns until they complete the cycle. Their head represents the North Pole so sometimes they will face away from the table/Sun and at other times the side of their face will orient towards the table/ Sun. It represents the single day/night cycle at the North and South Poles where sunrise/sunset happens on the Equinoxes and Polar noon and midnight happens on the Solstices. As this surface rotation reflects the orbital motion of the Earth, the surface speed varies so this is also the variable component reflected in the natural noon cycle when it combines with daily rotation. |
